If you design and build your library well, and the books don’t just sit inside for months at a time, you shouldn’t have any problems. Here are some tried-and-true weatherproofing tips:
- Make sure the door closes securely. Use a magnetic latch if possible.
- Ensure the roof has an overhang of 1 – 3″ to stop water from running down the sides and into the library.
- If you suspect your library is leaking, remove everything from inside of it. Spray it down with a hose from the outside. Check the inside to see where water is getting in, then caulk those areas with silicone caulk.
