By default, library pins are purple. Your favorited libraries will appear as heart-shaped pins. If you unfavorite a library, its pin will go back to the standard purple pin. After you check in to a library, its pin will turn orange. A gray pin means a library is temporarily closed, as reported by the library’s steward.
