Did you receive an email saying a Little Free Library has been transferred to you? You received that email because a Little Free Library steward identified you as the person taking over stewardship of their library.
A steward is the caretaker of a registered Little Free Library book-exchange box. The steward may choose to transfer stewardship to someone new for a variety of reasons; maybe they’re moving or they simply can’t care for the library any longer. The steward initiates the transfer by using the Transfers feature in their steward account. They enter the name, email address, and phone number of the new steward and trigger an email. That’s the email you received!
If you receive an email saying a library was transferred to you, here is what to do:
- Download the Little Free Library mobile app, if you haven’t yet. You must accept the transfer within the mobile app. It will not work in the steward web portal.
- Create an account in the mobile app using the email address specified in the email you received. If you already have an account with that email address, log out and back in.
- On login, you will see a pop-up about a pending transfer. Click Go To Transfer.
- You will be redirected to the My Library screen where you should see the transferred library. If you tap on the library, another pop-up will appear prompting you to accept or decline the transfer.
