To celebrate the kick-off of Dav Pilkey’s “Celebrating Heroes Around the World” tour, a Dog Man–themed Little Free Library book-sharing box was on display at his event at the world’s largest library, the Library of Congress.
LFL Executive Director Greig Metzger attended the evening event at the Library of Congress along with our friends from Scholastic, who we partnered with in 2024 to grant a Dog Man Little Free Library to one school in each of the 50 states.

Dav met with the kids and families in attendance for photos and hands-on activities in the Great Hall; there were over 1,000 people in attendance. Then, introduced by Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden, Dav gave a presentation in the Coolidge Auditorium. His talk included the importance of the 4 P’s—Positivity, Practice, Persistence and Purpose—demonstrations of him drawing Dog Man and other characters, and Dog Man trivia questions for the crowd to answer. To end the event, a trailer for the new Dog Man movie was shown.

“It was an honor to be at the Library of Congress, a place dedicated to books and learning, to celebrate Dav Pilkey and another way of sharing stories—a Dog Man Little Free Library,” said LFL Executive Director Greig Metzger. “Thanks to the generosity of Scholastic and Dav Pilkey, kids will have greater access to books and the joy of reading. We’re grateful for their support in spreading literacy and creativity to young readers everywhere.”
