Little Free Library’s Impact Library Program provides no-cost Little Free Library book-sharing boxes to underserved communities where they can make a meaningful impact on book access and literacy engagement. This month we heard from two stewards who were previously granted libraries through our Impact Library Program and wanted to share their stories.
Additionally, we granted 24 Impact Library Packages to applicants from schools, libraries, and nonprofit organizations in June 2025. These new Little Free Libraries will be expanding book access from Newport VT, to Pomona, CA, and many areas in between! Learn more about where we’ve placed Impact Library Program awards over the years.

“Lonsdale Elementary school received two little library units from a grant sponsored by Sun-Maid. These two units are located at the elementary school building in the Lonsdale community of Knoxville, TN. Lonsdale Elementary is a Title One school with a large population of Latina and African American families. Many of our student families are ELL population. These little libraries serve our students as well as their families. They are very important to us as there is not a public library in walking distance of Lonsdale, and most families do not have transportation. Different churches in the community use our little libraries as well.”

“I get excited whenever I see books are gone. I have noticed the adult books are removed at a faster rate than the kid books, which means there is an adult close by that is enjoying it. Which is very cool as well. As more kids come out of winter hibernation I’m sure they will be snatching them up at a faster rate.”
