Indigenous Library Program Steward Story, July 2025

By Sarah Nelson

Little Free Library’s Indigenous Library Program provides no-cost Little Free Library boxes full of books to Indigenous communities with limited book access. This month we heard from a steward who was previously granted a library through our Indigenous Library Program and wanted to share their story.

Additionally, we granted 15 Indigenous Library Packages to applicants from schools, libraries, and nonprofit organizations in June.

“I have been so blessed since welcoming the Little Free Indigenous Library grant award. The gift of books, the sharing of literature to nurture minds, new friendships and now a community hangout to name just a few. With sweet grass, smudging sage and wild strawberries planted around the base of the LFIL to welcome all that arrive. A bright and cozy little corner of our neighbourhood was created thanks to so many.”
