Little Free Library’s Impact Library Program provides no-cost Little Free Library book-sharing boxes to underserved communities where they can make a meaningful impact on book access and literacy engagement. This month we heard from a steward who was previously granted a library through our Impact Library Program and wanted to share their story.
Additionally, we granted 56 Impact Library Packages to applicants from schools, libraries, and nonprofit organizations in September 2026. These new Little Free Libraries will be expanding book access across the U.S. and Canada! Learn more about where we’ve placed Impact Library Program awards over the years.

“The Little Free Library has only been up and running for about two weeks, but so far, I have received a bag of donations, a gift of $100 from a lovely community member to purchase books, and our local library branches are thrilled to see the increased access to books, as well! The school district I work in is one of the largest in the state of California, by square mile, but we are one of the most under-funded. We do not have a library at the middle or high school, so this Little Free Library offers students the opportunity to connect with books outside of the classroom that might be of more personal interest to them. The books that Hachette donated are wonderful, especially those targeted for our Spanish speaking minority population. Our district runs a significant length of the U.S./Mexico border, and many of our students actually have dual citizenship. The books are so appreciated, and it’s wonderful to offer stories to students that resonate. If there are any they would be willing to donate that are in Spanish, that would be amazing as well!”
Help us bring Little Free Libraries full of books where they’re needed most. Donate today! When you donate, you help us provide libraries to communities like these.
