Little Free Library’s Impact Library Program provides no-cost Little Free Library book-sharing boxes to underserved communities where they can make a meaningful impact on book access and literacy engagement. This month we heard from two stewards who were previously granted libraries through our Impact Library Program and wanted to share their stories.
Additionally, we granted 12 Impact Library Packages to applicants from schools, libraries, and nonprofit organizations in July 2025. These new Little Free Libraries will be expanding book access from Milwaukee, WI, to Roswell, NM, and many areas in between! “Our organization, the Berks Coalition to End Homelessness, set up this library for people experiencing housing insecurity who walk into our office. The Little Library grant has been a great help for the clients who come to our office. The grant provided an opportunity to offer books to individuals, families, and children experiencing homelessness in our county. Housing instability disrupts learning, so having free books available provides parents the opportunity to read to their kids regardless of where they are housed. The donated books have provided comfort and a sense of normalcy during challenging times. The Spanish and bilingual books have been especially appreciated because our community as a large Spanish speaking population, and children’s books in Spanish are often hard to find. We are grateful for this grant, which has brought joy and literacy to those who need it most.”

“We finally have our Little Free Green Library up and running. Due to some construction and safety issues, it was installed later than expected. However, I am reaching out now that it is complete to say thank you again! It has already brought joy and knowledge to so many families in an area considered to be a book desert. Because of your help, these families have access to free books on a regular basis.”
