Peer-to-Peer Fundraising

What is peer-to-peer fundraising?

Peer-to-peer fundraising (P2P) is a fundraising method in which individual supporters host personalized campaigns to collect donations from friends and family. Little Free Library uses a platform for P2P fundraisers called Classy. We prefer you use this platform to set up your fundraising page (over social media sites or other donation platforms) because we are able to gather more information and are not charged a fee (like we are for some other platforms).

Please note that these fundraising pages can only be used to fundraise for the Little Free Library nonprofit organization and not for individual Little Free Libraries or any other purposes.

How to set up a peer-to-peer fundraising page on Classy

  1. Open a new browser window. Go to https://give.littlefreelibrary.org/friends
  2. Click “Become a Fundraiser.”
  3. A box will appear that says, “Join a team.” You can either click “As an individual”, “Join a team”, or “Create a team.”
    1. Use “As an individual” if you want to fundraise for Little Free Library on your own. If you click “As an individual”, you’ll be prompted to create a Classy account if you don’t already have one. Go ahead and create an account and then follow the rest of the steps to set up a P2P page.
    2. Use “Join a team” if you want to be part of the general Little Free Library team or want to join a friend’s team (you can search for their group name). If you click “Join a team”, you can join “Little Free Library Friends” to join the general Little Free Library team. You’ll be prompted to create a Classy account if you don’t already have one. Go ahead and create an account and then follow the rest of the steps to set up a P2P page.
    3. Use “Create a team” if you want multiple people to fundraise for Little Free Library. If you click “Create a team”, you’ll be prompted to create a Classy account if you don’t already have one. Go ahead and create an account, then create your fundraising team, and follow the rest of the steps to set up a P2P page.
  4. Fill out the details for your new peer-to-peer fundraising page. Choose an end date that makes sense (something like the end of the year). Your headline can be something like, “Fundraising for Little Free Library” or “Join me in supporting book access!” If you’d like a Short URL to share on your social media/with friends and family, go ahead and make one—it’s optional.
  5. When you’re done with the details of your new page, click next. You’ll now be able to see your peer-to-peer fundraising pages if you click on the person icon in the top right corner and go to “My Profile.”

If you need help at any point during the set-up process, please contact gifts@littlefreelibrary.org or 715-690-2488.

Examples of peer-to-peer fundraisers

  2. In honor/memory: You can set up a peer-to-peer fundraising page in honor or in memory of someone special.
  3. Graduation: Are you or someone in your family graduating from high school/college/graduate school? Was book access important to your/their success? Ask your friends and family to give a gift to Little Free Library to support our work and mission!
