Before Klara and the Sun hits theaters, readers can find the book in their neighborhood.
Sony Pictures Entertainment and Little Free Library are teaming up to celebrate the premiere of the book-to-screen adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel. Together, they’re bringing 10 Klara-themed Little Free Libraries to communities across the country, each with custom panels inspired by the film. The libraries will be placed in target communities through Little Free Library’s Impact Library Program waitlist, which brings book-sharing boxes to areas where access to books is limited.
Every library comes stocked. Penguin Random House is curating a book bundle for each one, including 10 copies of the Klara and the Sun movie tie-in edition along with other middle grade and young adult titles, so readers of all ages will have something to take home. Each library also includes a special message from lead actress Jenna Ortega.
The fun goes beyond these 10 locations. Through the partnership, Sony also sponsored a global giveaway of Klara and the Sun books and promo items to Little Free Library stewards around the world.

This is the second time the two organizations have joined forces around the film. In June, Sony and LFL dropped copies of the novel into Little Free Library boxes nationwide to celebrate the release of the movie’s trailer.
First published in 2021, Klara and the Sun follows Klara, an “Artificial Friend” who forms a deep bond with the teenager she’s bought to look after. The film stars Ortega, Amy Adams, Mia Tharia, Aran Murphy, and Natasha Lyonne.
“There’s always been a lively debate about which is better: the book or the movie,” said Margret Aldrich, Senior Director of Communications at LFL. “Our partnership with Sony Pictures gives readers the chance to experience both and decide for themselves. We hope Klara’s story surprises, moves, and inspires everyone who picks it up.”
Klara and the Sun opens in theaters October 23, 2026.
