Little Free Library’s Impact Library Program provides no-cost Little Free Library book-sharing boxes to underserved communities where they can make a meaningful impact on book access and literacy engagement. This month we heard from two stewards who were previously granted libraries through our Impact Library Program and wanted to share their stories.
Additionally, we granted 50 Impact Library Packages to applicants from schools, libraries, and nonprofit organizations in August 2026. Little Free Library: What motivated you to apply to the Impact Library Program?
Dave: I was psyched to be able to connect with neighbors over the sharing of books. I think LFLs immediately communicate to neighbors an interest in connecting and sharing resources.
What do you love about being a steward?
I love seeing books move! I love seeing people stopping and taking a look at what’s in there. I like seeing what people leave there. And I like that my house is recognizable because its in front.
How has your Little Free Library impacted your community?
People see our street as the book bin street. There is more circulation of books among neighbors.
