The Impact Library Program turned 10 this year, and to help celebrate this milestone, we gave the Impact Library map an upgrade! The new and improved map better highlights the program’s reach and makes it easier for you to find Impact Library locations near you.
If you’re not already familiar, the Impact Library Program grants no-cost Little Free Library book-sharing boxes to communities where books are scarce. According to a recent survey, 95% of Impact Library recipients report that they are providing access to books to people who have little-to-no access to books elsewhere. Since launching in 2016, the program has granted more than 3,500 Little Free Libraries and 87,500 books across the United States and Canada.
Impact Library Locations
Wondering where we have placed these libraries? Check the map! The new map is easily searchable by city, state, province, or postal code, and it will dynamically populate as you zoom in and out.
Hot tip! You can also use the Little Free Library mobile app to find Impact Libraries on-the-go. Just filter your search by the Impact Library tag.
Thank You to Program Supporters
We don’t grant these libraries alone! Each Impact Library depends on donor support to fund the structure, installation materials, and starter books to underserved neighborhoods. Today, more than 1,000 applicants remain on the waiting list, hoping to receive a Little Free Library for their community.
We extend a special thank you to recent program funders including: AIG, a leading global multinational insurance and finance corporation; Brightspeed, a telecommunications and internet service provider; and Donaldson, a global manufacturer of advanced filtration systems and replacement parts. Hachette Book Group, a leading book publisher, will also be placing 200 libraries through the program this year in honor of their 200th anniversary!
Additionally Impact Library stewards and Team LFL volunteers play a key role in maintaining and keeping these Impact Libraries stocked with high-quality books. Next time you’re looking for a place to share your books, consider donating them to an Impact Library to support access in communities where books are scarce. You can even join the network of volunteers distributing books to Impact and other Little Free Library locations through Team LFL.
If you live in a rural setting or urban location where book access is lacking, you are also encouraged to apply. Individuals, organizations, and businesses with a love for books and community are welcome!
