Community engagement and sharing with others are at the heart of the Little Free Library movement. In just a few days, the spirit of sharing in Little Free Libraries has shifted to accommodate increased needs in communities across the U.S.
We continue to see the generosity of Little Free Library stewards in action, as many share food to feed the body as well as books to feed the mind while SNAP benefits are at risk.

“I recently converted my Little Free Library to a food pantry in light of my neighbors, many of whom are already furloughed federal workers, losing their federal food assistance money. Our neighborhood came through beautifully and reminded me that there is power in community care.” -Ravenna R.

“You can’t focus on reading with an empty belly.
Take what you need.
🩷 Your neighbor”

“Reading is COOL! Food insecurity is NOT!
I have made space for pantry items in my library for anyone who needs extra help in such difficult times.
Take what you need. Leave what you can.
Please share in case you know somebody in need. You never know who may be struggling.” -Stephanie A.
Use the Little Free Library mobile app to find Little Free Libraries with the Sharing Box tag, which indicates they offer food and household supplies in addition to books. To find an established food bank near you, visit the resources at Feeding America.
