Little Free Library Partners with Venables Bell + Partners to Launch The Unbanned Book Club

By Sarah Nelson

When they ban books in schools, we un-ban them in the community. We recently teamed up with Venables Bell + Partners (VBP) to launch The Unbanned Book Club, an initiative providing communities in Duval County, Florida, access to banned and challenged books. New specially branded Little Free Libraries will be placed locally, filled with banned books provided by HarperCollins and Penguin Random House, and stewarded by Florida nonprofit 904WARD.

Through the Unbanned Book Club project, VBP is establishing a collection of custom-branded Little Free Library book-sharing boxes in Duval County, containing books that have been banned or challenged. Additionally, 100 Little Free Library stewards in Florida and 100 Little Free Library stewards and fans across the country can enter to win two banned books and an Unbanned Book Club package, including a hat, bookmark, button, and stickers.

A selection of banned and challenged books will also be available for purchase through Booksio with 15% proceeds going to the Little Free Library organization.
