Bill Gates Drops Favorite Books in 100 Little Free Library Book-Sharing Boxes Around the World

By Sarah Nelson

Every year Bill Gates releases a list of his favorite reads of the year, but for 2022, he wanted to expand the list. This year he chose five of his favorite books that he’s read throughout his life and has recommended often to friends, family, and acquaintances.

As part of the release of his holiday books reading list, Bill arranged for copies of these books to be shared in more than 100 Little Free Library book-sharing boxes around the world. From Bremerton, Washington to Johannesburg, South Africa, registered Little Free Library stewards across the globe found five books with a note from Mr. Gates declaring his love for reading.

Bill’s five book picks for the year are:

  • Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein
  • Surrender by Bono
  • Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin
  • The Inner Game of Tennis by Robert Gallwey
  • Mendeleyev’s Dream by Paul Strathern
