Read and Grow: Little Free Libraries and Gardens

By Dan Sheridan

Little Free Library #14949, Tolland, CT

With Spring on the way, it’s time to start preparing your Little Free Library for more foot traffic and book circulation. For some stewards with green thumbs, they are also gearing up to share seeds, scents, and floral scenery at their Library! Here are a few Libraries that bring book sharing and gardening together as one (find out how you can get your own rooftop garden at the end!).

This “Reading Thyme” Library is in a garden that gives children and teens an opportunity to discover the joys and benefits of gardening. As well as exchanging books, the Little Free Library also houses a seed packet and healthy recipe exchange.

Little Free Library #49325, East Bethesda, MD

We love this Cedar Mini Shed with flowers on top! (We imagine the aroma is pretty nice, too.)

Little Free Library #36351, Highland, CA

There are books about gardening, animals, flowers, and recipes using fresh fruits and vegetables at this Little Free Library, located at the Highland Giving Garden. Additionally, the food grown here is shared directly with the Highland community!

Little Free Library #66414, San Luis Obispo, CA

Enjoy the blooms and pick up a good book at the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden! Doesn’t our Green Two Story Shed match the surroundings nicely?

Little Free Library #72131, Hudson, WI

This Library is located at our headquarters in Hudson, WI!
