to increase awareness of the LGBTQ+ community in our town, and encourage diverse representation in the books available to people of all ages.
I feel the Read in Color program is extremely important, especially in the diverse and underserved areas of East Dallas.
When we understand and love people by sharing their stories (both tragic and triumphant), we can change the world. I also am concerned about the recent posts and trend to ban Christian books. It smacks of historical hate repeating. Trail of tears, Slavery, Genocide, WWII, Armenia. Remember. Don’t repeat.
Everyone should learn about other people. It is fun and understanding each other’s experiences will build understanding
and appreciation in our country.
