Because reading is a joy that should extend to everyone
The Read in Color initiative aligns with the work we’ve been doing to expand our library and get a diverse selection of books to local neighborhoods with literacy access barriers. Looking forward to working together!
Our volunteers read one-on-one to a diverse population of preschoolers and we pledge to include a good choice of multicultural books for children to select.
It is very Important that everyone see themselves in books. Reading in Color will also help begin the conversation about race and other topics we are uncomfortable talking about.
While I’m working hard to educate myself on diversity disparity, I’d like my neighborhood to be able to choose books that help them learn and for all the children to be able to “see themselves” in the story books.
Because I am committed to sharing books of this genre!
We need to understand people from different backgrounds and cultures, especially now and into the future.
