I believe in teaching diversity and inclusivity. Pair that with the power of reading and it’s a win!
As a Family Literacy Specialist, I want all of my peeps to know we share the world!
I am taking this pledge for the children that I serve to ensure they see themselves in books!
Children and adults benefit from reading about people from diverse groups. In books readers should be able to see themselves as actors and makers in the world. They can imagine how to build a better place for all of us, and then build it.
Diversity is rainbows as opposed to clouds.
I am taking the Read in Color pledge because I know how important it is read with both mirrors and windows- mirrors to see ourselves and windows to see and understand those in our community.
There is beauty in our diversity!
