As a teacher of English Learners and other students of color, it’s important for children to see their culture and issues featured in literature.
Diverse books serve as mirrors and windows of different human emotions and experiences. They offer a powerful opportunity to build community and increase empathy.
Books are mirrors for students and build up and affirm their identities. I aim to increase the access for kids in my neighborhood.
