I am encouraging reading to students. Having diverse books available gives students rich, interesting, and thought provoking stories. Opening minds and hearts with reading.
All kids (and adults) should be able to see themselves in books. We need to make this a priority!
I want to be a lifelong learner.
Our world is diverse and beautiful and the books we read should reflect that diversity. Representation matters, children should see characters that reflect them and their families in the books they read.
Diversity is a critical aspect of our society’s growth. Nature itself needs diversity and variety to flourish, and we are no different. I include diversity in my illustration work and without it my career would stall. Onwards and upwards for variety in every aspect of life!
