I volunteer with the Friends of the Library to maintain the LFL in our local park. I want to help bring diversity to my community and various points of view.
Our society is diverse therefore our books should be as well. All people should feel represented and readers should read about others who are not like them in order to increase understanding.
As a person of color, I know the importance of representation, especially while growing up. If I can play a part in bringing different cultures and diversity to light in my community, I will.
We want kids to find heroes that they identify with. We also want adults to see the humanity in people that are different from themselves.
We, the members of St Paul Lutheran Church, are setting a table where all are welcome by working to dismantle racism in ourselves, our communities and our institutions.
