Read in Color Art Contest Details

Please thoroughly review the contest entry details below. 

A. The Contest: The Contest is open to residents of New York City’s 5 Boroughs who are the age of majority in their state of residence and who are parents, teachers, community leaders, or legal guardians of children between the ages of 11 and 17 years of age at the time of entering. Eligible entries are those created by the participating child.

B. Submission:
1. Applicant creates an original piece of artwork (only 2-dimensional executions will be accepted).
2. Applicant creates a digital file of the artwork and submits it online as specified on the entry form.
3. Artwork must meet the specified requirements. Required artwork dimensions:
Side Panel: 11 7/16″ wide x 16″ tall
Back Panel: 13 11/16″ wide x 16″ tall
4. Artwork must be an original design created by the participating child specifically for this contest.
5. Submission deadline: September 1, 2022, 11:49pm ET
6. All submitted artwork becomes the property of Little Free Library, who can reproduce, distribute and/or share in any way it sees fit.

C. Judging and Award Winner: All artwork will be reviewed and judged by a panel of qualified judges as determined by the sponsoring and partner organizations. There will be 1 grand prize winner, 4 finalists, and 10 honorable mention winners. The contest winner will be notified by mail, phone, and email in October 2022. Contest winners will be sent additional documentation to complete once they have been notified of their winning submission.

D. Prize: The grand-prize winner’s artwork will be recreated on 5 Little Free Library boxes and placed with recipients throughout New York City. (Each library recipient will receive a box of Read in Color books and LFL program support.) One grand-prize winner will receive 8 NYCFC tickets, a $250 gift certificate to Bookshop.org, and an award certificate with a picture of their artwork. Four finalists will receive 4 NYCFC tickets, a $50 gift certificate to Bookshop.org, and an award certificate with a picture of their artwork. Honorable mention winners will receive 2 NYCFC tickets and an award certificate with a picture of their artwork.
