Impact Library Program Steward Stories, March 2023

By Sarah Nelson

Little Free Library’s Impact Library Program provides no-cost Little Free Library book-sharing boxes to underserved communities where they can make a meaningful impact on book access and literacy engagement. This month we heard from two stewards who were previously granted libraries through our Impact Library Program and wanted to share their stories.

Additionally, we granted 22 Impact Library Packages to applicants from schools, libraries, and nonprofit organizations in March 2023. These new Little Free Libraries will be expanding book access from High Point, NC to Aberdeen, WA and many areas in between! Learn more about where we’ve placed Impact Library Program awards over the years.

“We live in a very rural and conservative ranching community. Our Little Free Library has provided beautiful books with gentle introductions to cultures and diversity not well known to our community. It is so important for us to provide an opportunity for our community to learn about our diverse world so they can be more comfortable interacting and hopefully become more accepting!

Thank you for providing us with this opportunity!”

“This Little Free Library has brought people together. It is located near the tourist booth and a town park and gets lots of traffic. Children and adults use this library often. I have two friends who help me look after the library when I am out of town. It’s been a wonderful addition to our community.

I’ve learned that this is a worthwhile program. I have had only very positive feedback about the library.”
