I work in a School Age Child Care program with children of all races and identities and I have seen first hand what a difference it can make in a child’s life to see themselves in books.
All voices should be honored as we share the love of reading! May we continue to read in color and foster understanding and celebrate one another!
We take this pledge because it is important that all voices are heard in all communities.
Our area is very homogeneous. There are very few BIPOC living in our area. I want kids to be exposed to other races and customs. I want them to be able to develop relationships and friendships outside their comfort zone.
Everyone deserves to be able to share their story. Everyone deserves to be able to learn about and from the stories of others.
To inform others about inclusion and diversity.
We would love to spread positive knowledge of all races to our very small not diverse community to better help children learn that all are special and unique.
