It’s important for readers to see themselves in the characters they read, not just because they can relate to their experience but because diverse voices deserve to be heard and showcased.
Because the neighborhoods we are located in are over 50% African American.
I am taking this pledge because I have felt for a long time that we are not including all of our population in our books, discussions… Hurray! We are getting closer daily.
Our library features works by BIPOC authors — love this initiative!!

I was inspired by what happened this year to register my nonprofit WAR: Women Against Racism with the purpose of educating my community about injustice and developing activism. I’m curating books focused on history and how to be an anti-racist, including for parents of young children.
Diversity is NEEDED!! I need to study more!! I want to share the books where everyone will have access in the Little Free Libraries!!
