I think it is important to provide a good variety of books for my neighbors to read!
Every child should be able to see themself in a book. Diverse books are extremely important, especially in the under-resourced neighborhoods of our cities. If we all work together, every child will have age appropriate books in their home.
Coming from a diverse community I think it is important to have books that reflect that diversity.
As a reading specialist I have always provided multi-cultural and multi-lingual books for students. I support the Read in Color philosophy and believe that everyone should have access to books that relate to them personally regardless of race, color, or sexual orientation, I am proud to participate.
Our world is so full of colors and our books reflect the world around us!
There is a need in this area
