I believe that reading is an important tool for self discovery, self esteem, and self confidence. I also believe that our communities of color, would benefit immensely from the community “little free Librabries.” These free libraries exist in our white communities, why not ours!
I read in color because diversity matters and there are so many great books written by all types of people!

I am a lifelong children’s literature advocate, have taught undergrad teacher education students, and have co-presented Diversity Awareness series, focusing on getting access to the most current, quality children’s picture books that celebrate diverse peoples.
Books are one of our greatest gifts. We can use them to promote kindness, understanding and tolerance.
