We attend a diverse city school in a large Black and Latinx community. Its so important for children to be able to see themselves in the books they read!
Because representation matters.
It is important to learn to love and respect diverse cultures and people and to grow in empathy for others.
Growing up in and then returning to rural midwestern communities means I have a passion for broadening the horizons of children in these communities in all ways. Sharing diverse books in my Little Free Library is one way to expand horizons for our rural kids!
Diversity is reading is crucial. It’s important for children to see themselves in books.
