I am a preschool Head Start teacher who is creating a diverse collection of books for my classroom and Little Library. I am a white Mom of an African American young man who loves to read, and I teach minority students who deserve to see themselves in literature.
As an educator I believe that it is important to provide diversity in the books we put into the hands of children.
Our LFL showcases books supporting Social Justice and Racial Equity.
We have many different colors in our family and celebrate all of them. This is America
Because it’s important for everyone to have representation in books.
Every child deserves the opportunity to see themselves in the books they read!
We all have the right to dream the characters we read, to put ourselves in their stories of sorrow, misfortune, and triumph. Reading in color is power.
As a retired school teacher, I’ve always celebrated diversity in books that I’ve shared with my students. I want that to continue in my Free Little Library.
Because it’s needed and important!
