Reading diverse books leads to more understanding, compassion and empathy towards others.
As a retired educator who taught more than 32 years, picture books and novels such as Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry were keystones of teaching, mostly white students, about families and developing compassion and empathy for families who have a different “American” experience.
Sharing important history on African Americans with the neighborhood. Making diverse voices available to all.

Primarily we have offered social justice titles at our LFL since opening our door almost a year ago. We haven’t been calling it Read In Color, but now we will. We’re so excited to be part of a nation-wide movement. Dare we dream? Dream Little Compton
