Our world is diverse and beautiful and the books we read should reflect that diversity. Representation matters, children should see characters that reflect them and their families in the books they read.
Diversity is a critical aspect of our society’s growth. Nature itself needs diversity and variety to flourish, and we are no different. I include diversity in my illustration work and without it my career would stall. Onwards and upwards for variety in every aspect of life!

We always read in color, so of course would take this pledge! we have a free little library on our street actually, and would love to share these books with the free library as it definitely is not as varied as the books we get ourselves from the library
As an educator in a diverse school district, it’s especially important for me to share books with my students and families that represent them, their cultures, their traditions, and their languages. All children need to be able to point to a page in a book and say, “That’s my world!”
