So that adults and children in my neighborhood can see themselves reflected in literature.
I have three LFLs in areas that children most at risk for literacy frequently visit or live. The county jail, community-based correctional facility and homeless shelter are areas that Read in Color books would be most welcomed by these children.
It’s a diverse world and the books made available in our little library should reflect that.
We are very diverse and offer many books of color, kids love taking books and learning about everyone, it is very important as we have adopted children of other cultures!
