Little Free Library’s Impact Library Program provides no-cost Little Free Library book-sharing boxes to underserved communities where they can make a meaningful impact on book access and literacy engagement. This month we heard from two stewards who were previously granted libraries through our Impact Library Program and wanted to share their stories.
This month we granted 24 Impact Library Packages to applicants from clinics, schools, and nonprofit organizations. These new Little Free Libraries will be expanding book access from Honeoye Falls, NY to Oak Park, CA and many areas in between! “The community has been very positive about the Little Free Library thus far. I have seen parents come with their kids to pick out books, adults take a peek, and I have regular visitors with a group of elementary girls that like to come together and grab books.
I learned to have a wide age range of books available, so that it can be restocked immediately. I have also learned that my community is supportive of my efforts, of which I wasn’t sure beforehand.”

“I gifted the box to a local elementary school in my community of East LA where the administration placed it outside where the students and nearby residents are able to use the box.
The county parks had initially told me they would support the installation of the library box at a local park in East LA but then they changed their mind due to the potential of vandalism. I was discouraged but quickly looked for other options and the school principal I reached out was very receptive and welcoming.
Thank you so much for this award. I have fundraised to purchase a second box and will place it at another elementary school in the upcoming months.”
