Happy Mother’s Day!
In 2009, I put a model of a one-room schoolhouse on a post in my front yard with a sign that said, “FREE BOOKS” as a tribute to my mother, June, a former school teacher who loved reading.
Little did I know that this act would be a catalyst for what would become a global literacy movement of nearly 26,000 exchanges full of “FREE BOOKS” that build tighter knit communities through a mutual love of reading. Little Free Library is now a non-profit social enterprise with locations all over the world and more opening every day.
On May 16th, we’ll mark our 3rd birthday as a non-profit. Help us celebrate by downloading this Happy Birthday LFL flier, posting it on your Library and participating in our WORLDWIDE LITTLE FREE LIBRARY BOOK DRIVE.
- Bring new or gently-used children’s and young adult books to your friendly neighborhood Little Free Libraries.
- Snap a photo of yourself dropping off books and post it in social media using the hashtag #givebooks.
- We’ll comb Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and select random participants to receive Little Free Library swag.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to #givebooks through your support of our Kickstarter campaign.
Thank you also to June Bol, who has inspired me to keep on building Little Free Libraries.
