Equity Books is a nonprofit organization that aims to promote literacy across our communities through access to diverse and inclusive books. Here at Equity Books, we gather books that promote diverse and inclusive representation and distribute them to our local communities. #SeeYourselfInBooks
The children in my neighborhood need to see themselves reflected in the books they read.
Our kids deserve more. They deserve to see themselves in books. They deserve others to hear their stories.
Fight illiteracy in underserved areas of the community with books that have characters relatable for the children reading the books.
Color of skin makes no difference. Learning and what your mind holds is more important.
Everyone has a story to tell. We need opportunities to find and read all of the stories by all of the people of the world.
Because diversity is a strength and every kid deserves to feel seen when they read a book.
We started the @littlefreediverselibraryRVA project in June of 2020 to help spread diverse books to the LFL boxes in the Richmond, VA area. We have since built our own neighborhood library and pledge to keep it stocked with diverse books!
I live in a very diverse area and want to support and celebrate that diversity in my community.
