Diversity in reading can make a difference!
Reading helps shape our character. Through reading we can gain insight and appreciation for the many cultures and societies in our world.
Children of all walks of life deserve to see themselves portrayed in books, with the social disparities we still see today it is still even more crucial to provide free materials and literature that reflect the world we truly live in.
It benefits all of us to read stories by and about people like ourselves and It expands everyone’s world to learn about other people and cultures.
I am a middle grade writer and feel it is important to read “own voices” books. I will have many in my free little library, especially for children.
Diversity is life!
Because the road ahead is still long,. We will only pave it one small action at a time, together, and books are crucial tools in this endeavor.
