The 2017 American Library Association Annual Conference in Chicago boasted 25,000 attendees, including Little Free Library staff and volunteers!

For us, it was three days jam-packed with 6 Library builds, 10 Libraries given away, hundreds of conversations with librarians and fans, and dozens of interesting new partnerships sparked (including some fascinating conversations with Google and NASA).

Several publishers at the conference participated in sponsored Little Free Library builds, like the team at Flowerpot Press (you can see their Library build live in the video).

A sponsored Library build is fun community service activity for organizations or businesses, where you can build a Little Free Library in just a few hours.

Then, you can choose to keep it, or donate it to an underprivileged neighborhood through Little Free Library’s Impact Fund.

Hundreds of attendees entered to win one of 10 Little Libraries that we gave away during the conference, with winners spanning from Bowling Green, Ohio to North Pole, Alaska! (Yes, that really is the name of the town.)

During the conference we also excitedly announced our second Action Book Club Theme, “Many Voices.” Since then, we’ve had dozens of new groups swell our ranks to over 350 Action Book Clubs around the world!

If we didn’t get to meet you at the conference, then hopefully we’ll see you there next year! Learn more about how to start a Little Free Library or find a Library near you on our world map.
